Dear Parents,

On behalf of the 138th Street School staff, welcome to the 2022 – 2023 school year. We hope every member of our community is healthy and safe. I hope your family was able to find some time to rest and create some memorable moments this summer. All members of the 138th Street School staff are committed to the success of every student and will continue the tradition of excellence at 138th Street.

138th Street Elementary will continue to focus on  the whole child and finding innovative ways to make learning relevant and meaningful for our students. We are committed to our rich tradition of excellence and student success. We will be diligent in creating optimal learning conditions for all students. We will continue to let learning grow, while also building excellence as we work towards continuous improvement. We will continue to emphasis developing critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills that students need to succeed in both school and career. Our teachers will inspire passion for learning in our students and provide them with a tool to pursue their interests beyond the school day in the areas of their choice. Attendance is critical and we have set an ambitious goal to reach 98% daily attendance. Please help us reach our goal!

A special thank you to our custodial staff, office staff, district office, PTA board, and classroom teachers for the work they have put in this summer. Their work and dedication is infectious and makes me so proud to work alongside dedicated professionals.

I look forward to welcoming students back to campus on the First Day of School, Monday, August 29th at 8:30am. For any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 310-725-2151 or via email at hrios@wiseburn.org.

Sincerely,

Hugo Rios

Principal, 138th Street School
